Lesson & Studio Policies

Taking music lessons requires a commitment from both the student and teacher. I am committed to your scheduled lesson time each week, in addition to the time spent preparing special lesson material for you. I ask you of this: be on time to your lesson and practice your assigned material. The following policy will help ensure that students are not wasting their time or mine.

  1. PAYMENT
    Lessons are to be paid for, in advance, in 4 or 5 week cycles. A receipt stating lessons paid for and/or lessons owed will be provided with each advance payment. If you decide to pay-as-you-go, you MUST pay your fee at the beginning of the lesson. If you cannot pay at the beginning of the lesson, then your lesson WILL NOT take place. Lessons can only be booked a week in advance via this method according to lesson availability and will no longer to be continually reserved. If paying via bank transfer for a single lesson, please make sure this have been sent 48 HOURS in advance of your lesson. I will always let you know when I have received payment. If paying by invoice, please pay the full invoice within 15 days of the date stated, otherwise late fees will be added for each late day and lessons will be suspended immediately.
    You can still pay for your lessons in all of the ways I currently offer; by cash, cheque or bank transfer. If you take part in the loyalty card scheme (after 6 months of lessons) your free/discounted lesson will be claimed in the next month.
  2. CANCELLATIONS
    Students are asked to give 48 HOURS notice to cancel a scheduled lesson; except in the case of illness or exceptional circumstances, in which students are asked to call/text as soon as possible. If notice is provided, a make-up lesson will be scheduled according to availability. All missed lessons MUST be made up in that month or forfeited. Missed lessons WILL NOT carry over to the next month. Special exceptions can be made for holidays, illness or family grievance, for example. If the student does not show up for the make-up lesson, the lesson will then be forfeited.
  3. NO-SHOWS
    If the student misses a lesson without calling/texting in advance (a “no- show”), the student will forfeit that lesson and no make-up lesson will be scheduled. Any student who misses two consecutive lessons without calling (either before or after the missed lesson) will be assumed to no longer require lessons and will no longer have a lesson time reserved for them. I will not be calling to find out why you didn’t show.
  4. CANCELLATION BY TEACHER
    If I need to miss a lesson I will notify you as soon as possible and we will schedule a make-up lesson. All scheduled lessons cancelled by me e.g. illness, will be credited to you and a make-up lesson time will be scheduled with you.
  5. LATENESS
    Students late for their lesson WILL NOT get their full lesson time. Most lessons are scheduled back to back. Your lesson will end when it is time for the next students lesson to begin. If you lesson starts late because my schedule is running behind, you will get your full lesson.
  6. REFUNDS
    If a student decides to stop taking lessons in the middle of a 4-week lesson cycle, all remaining lessons will be forfeited. No refunds will be given.
  7. ILLNESS
    If you are coughing/sneezing or your voice is affected by illness, please do not come for your lesson. If you are contagious please do not come to your scheduled lesson as this may cause personal illness, therefore affecting other students lessons. Make sure you give enough notice and we will schedule a make-up lesson for when you feel better. Please call/text or send us an email to re-schedule a lesson.
